00:00 Yeah, and thank you for bringing that up because one of the biggest tragedies we’ve had is Camp Lejeune in North Carolina had a major problem of child leukemia, not just in the children but also in the adults. But children died from a petrochemical from the Marine Corps base that leached into the water, and it caused all kinds of problems where that water filtered into the government corridors where our military warriors live. And these families, they just go about their lives. They shower and they drink the water that’s provided to them, not knowing that there was a petrochemical that had leached in there, and that was the cause of a lot of these cancers.
00:42 Now, there were lawsuits that were settled about that, but military bases, there’s a lot of things that are happening around military bases, so you have to be careful. But I still believe, I grew up in a military family. I’ve lived on military bases my whole life. I feel like I’m pretty healthy. But again, it’s not just a military base, it’s everywhere. The problem could be like Flint. I would always have a tagline, what happened in Flint could happen anywhere.
01:11 And even where we are on Long Island here, we had an issue. There’s a national laboratory. It has a nuclear power plant on it, and the tritium leaks into our groundwater, and apparently it was contained close to where that area is.

01:28 But, you know, who knows?
01:29 And things do happen like that. And it’s sad when it happens and you got to catch it. But I still think it’s kind of a mixed bag. I still think the government does try very hard to protect us and give us what we need to live with good water, but there are things that do happen. But I think we have to be more aggressive about fixing the problem and taking care of the people. Just don’t let them hang out there. Just fix the problem, but take care of them.
01:57 So it’s interesting with a municipal water system, why wouldn’t they just add something like this outside the plant to just like one more, you know, pass through?
02:09 Well part of the problem would be, you could imagine urban sprawl these days. I mean, our population is growing immensely. But to get from the treatment facility to a home that may be 10 miles away, you’ve got different pump stations that will keep pushing the pressure of the water into these homes. But with new construction and how our urban environment is growing, the water still has to be cleaned by the time it gets to your home. So that’s part of the problem. They just have to add the chemicals to keep it disinfected, because I would much rather have what the city’s giving me, even with the chlorine, than have a bacteria that could come in the water that could be harmful for me.
