Is the FE Edition a whole-house filter?
No. It is a specialty pre-filter built for one job: filtering ferrous iron before it stains everything orange. It does not replace a whole-house filter. Most customers install it upstream of The AquaOx for full coverage.
How does it filter iron?
An air-injection chamber at the top of the tank oxidizes dissolved ferrous iron (Fe²⁺) into solid ferric iron (Fe³⁺). The solid iron is then trapped by the iron-filtration media and flushed out during the automatic backwash cycle.
Does it also filter the rotten-egg smell?
No, hydrogen sulfide needs a different capture media. If your well has rotten-egg smell, choose the RE Edition. If you have both iron AND sulfur, call us, both can be installed in series.
Do I still need a whole-house filter?
Yes if you want chlorine, PFAS, lead, and the other 300+ contaminants the AquaOx filters. The FE Edition handles iron only.
